LAKER DAY ONE ACCESS

At Iowa Lakes, Aviation Private Pilot, Cosmetology, Nursing ADN/PNN and Farm Equipment & Digital Technology students start every term ahead of the curve through the Equitable Access Program.

Created in partnership with Akademos, Inc., and powered by TextbookX, Iowa Lakes' Online Bookstore provides an innovative, personalized, and affordable course material experience for students. At the start of each qualifying term, students will receive all of the physical and digital course materials they need in order to succeed.

How Does It Work?
  • Faculty select the course materials they want to use and submit it to the bookstore, who then sources the materials in physical and digital formats.
  • Once you are registered for the upcoming term, the bookstore compiles the materials and delivers physical textbooks to campus while digital courts material access information is emailed.
What Actions Do I Need To Take?

You do not need to take any actions to ensure your materials are delivered. The bookstore will know what materials are needed and deliver physical items to you while access information will be emailed as well as listed in your bookstore eLibrary account for future reference.

Start of Term Checklist:

  1. Check our you course list at iowalakes.textbookx.com to see which materials you will receive.
  2. Pick up any physical texts at the Emmetsburg Campus Store. Aviation Private Pilot get materials at Estherville Campus Store.
  3. Check your email for digital access information.
Are All Programs Included?

The online bookstore supports many models including institution-wide or a combination of student choice and textbooks that are included in school costs. At Iowa Lakes, Aviation Private Pilot 140/180, Cosmetology, Nursing ADN & PNN and Farm Equipment & Diesel Technology follows the included textbooks format while the rest of the school follows a model where students make their own choice on textbooks.

What Are The Benefits?
  • High-quality, low-cost course materials for all of your registered classes.
  • One flat fee for books regardless of course, major, or material format.
  • No out-of-pocket core program program textbook costs.
  • Delivery of all materials prior to the first day of class.
  • A personalized website showing courses and when, where, and how materials are delivered
  • Year-round student support with 24/7 availability during the back-to-school season
Is this program affordable?

Although all students pay the same tuition and fees, there is still a financial difference in the costs of course materials. To address this issue and promote equal academic opportunities, this program adopts a pricing model for course materials that aligns with the other costs of attendance. By doing so, it aims to reduce the financial disparity and ensure the all students, regardless of their field of study, have access to the educational resources they need in order to succeed.
