PRESS RELEASE: IOWA LAKES ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR MISSOULA CHILDREN’S THEATRE PRODUCTION OF “THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES”

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa — Iowa Lakes Community College will host auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of The Emperor’s New Clothes on Monday, June 8, at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., the first day of a weeklong summer day camp. Advance registration is required and opens May 1. The Emperor’s New Clothes will be presented Saturday, June 13, at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center, following a weeklong camp running Monday through Friday, June 8–12, from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Students entering grades 1 through 12 are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Roles include the Emperor; ManyPenny and the Money Council; Royal Scholars Roxy and Red; Kings and Queens; Gem and the Royal Jewelers; Boots and the Royal Cobblers; Lid and the Royal Hatters; Stitch and the Royal Tailors; and the Royal Silkworms.

Assistant directors will also be selected to support rehearsals and assist with backstage responsibilities throughout the week.

Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions include all costumes, scenery and props. MCT tour actor/directors will lead rehearsals each day from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., with optional workshops offered Tuesday through Thursday from 4:15 to 5 p.m.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre residency in Estherville is presented by Iowa Lakes Community College with support from the ELC Fine Arts Cultural Enrichment Grant and the Iowa Lakes Fine Arts Cultural Enrichment Grant.
