DARYL MADISON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED AT IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Estherville, Iowa — Iowa Lakes Community College is proud to announce the establishment of the Daryl Madison Memorial Scholarship, created in honor of the late Daryl Madison through generous donations from his family and friends.
The scholarship recognizes Daryl Madison’s long-standing commitment to Iowa Lakes Community College and his unwavering support of Laker athletics. For many years, Madison served as a bus driver for Iowa Lakes athletic teams, traveling countless miles with student-athletes and becoming a familiar, encouraging presence at practices and competitions. More than transportation, Daryl provided consistent support, enthusiasm, and genuine care for the students he served.
“Daryl Madison represented everything we value at Iowa Lakes,” said Dan Lutat, Executive Director of Foundation and Governmental Relations. “He showed up for our students time and time again, not for recognition, but because he truly believed in them and in the role athletics plays in shaping lives.”
The Daryl Madison Memorial Scholarship will provide a $2,000 award to a student-athlete involved in Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, or Softball at Iowa Lakes Community College. The scholarship will support students who demonstrate dedication to their sport, their education, and the values of service and commitment that Daryl exemplified throughout his life.
“Through this scholarship, Daryl’s legacy will continue in a very meaningful way,” Lutat added. “It ensures that future student-athletes receive the same encouragement and support that Daryl so freely gave during his many years with Iowa Lakes athletics.”
Madison’s impact on Iowa Lakes athletics was formally recognized in 2023 when he and his wife, Sue Madison, were inducted into the Iowa Lakes Athletics Hall of Fame for their years of dedication and support.
