(Spencer, Iowa)Northwest Iowa RSVP invites the public to a meet-and-greet event welcoming Mari Duncan, the new Director of the Northwest Iowa RSVP program, on Monday, November 10, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Duncan, who began her role in September, is eager to connect with community members and learn more about their volunteer experiences. A long-time volunteer herself, Duncan sees the position as an exciting and rewarding opportunity to further strengthen community engagement across the region.

Duncan is a graduate of Iowa Lakes Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business and Administration Management and a diploma in accounting. She is currently pursuing an additional associate degree in accounting, which she is expected to complete this academic year.

The meet-and-greet will take place in Room 108 on the Spencer Campus. Attendees are invited to enjoy complimentary donuts and beverages while learning more about RSVP’s mission, meeting Duncan and the County Coordinators, and networking with other volunteers. Individuals who are not currently volunteering are encouraged to attend and explore how RSVP helps strengthen communities across Northwest Iowa.

Northwest Iowa RSVP is part of the national AmeriCorps Seniors program and matches volunteers with opportunities that meet critical community needs. Its mission is to engage Iowans age 55 or better in meaningful service that benefits both their communities and their own well-being. Sponsored by Iowa Lakes Community College since 1977, RSVP volunteers must be at least 55 years old, though their work supports individuals of all ages.
