Robert A. Leifeld serves as Vice President of Administration at Iowa Lakes Community College. Since joining Iowa Lakes in 2014, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the institution’s strategy, overseeing accreditation efforts, and managing key operational areas, including facilities, institutional research, campus stores, and grant development. As a member of the President’s Cabinet and Senior Leadership Team, Leifeld helps guide the college’s vision and direction across its five-campus system.
Leifeld has successfully led major initiatives, including the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) re-accreditation, the Iowa Department of Education’s State Re-Accreditation process, and the implementation of the Iowa Lakes Strategic Plan. He has directed the development of the college’s Facilities Master Plan and secured HLC approval for the addition of Algona High School as an official instructional location. Under his leadership, Iowa Lakes has adopted new access and security systems, enhanced program review processes, and strengthened student learning assessment.
Prior to his current role, Leifeld served as Vice President of Administration and Executive Dean of the Estherville Campus. His previous experience includes leadership roles at Northwest Iowa Community College, Minnesota State College Southeast Technical, and Upper Iowa University, where he led grant initiatives, developed academic programs, and expanded transfer opportunities for students.
Leifeld holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Iowa State University. Deeply engaged in his community, he actively contributes to organizations such as the Estherville Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and Friends of Fort Defiance State Park.
