Troy Larson Named As Next Dean of Students at Iowa Lakes

(Estherville, Iowa) Iowa Lakes Community College President Scott Stokes has announced the appointment of Troy Larson as the next Executive Dean of Students for Iowa Lakes Community College. Larson currently serves as the Athletic and Housing Director and the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

“Troy’s high energy, professional experience, and positive demeanor align well with the leadership team at Iowa Lakes. His passion for Iowa Lakes and our students will profoundly impact the institution and student success,” said Stokes.

Larson brings more than 26 years of higher education experience to his new role as the Executive Dean of Students with a proven track record in growing both the Iowa Lakes Athletic and Housing Departments. Larson has also received many awards as Head Men’s Basketball Coach, including 2023 ICCAC Coach of the Year and North Central District B Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2023, and he holds the all-time record for career wins at Iowa Lakes with 345 wins. Larson has a master’s in business administration degree from the University of South Dakota, a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Morningside College, and an associate in arts degree from Iowa Lakes Community College.

The current Executive Dean of Students, Julie Williams, will retire on June 30, 2023, and Larson’s appointment is effective July 1, pending board approval. Larson will retain his duties as Athletic Director in addition to his new role as the Executive Dean of Students.
