TRIO Talent Search STEM Camp Goes Virtual
(Estherville, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Community College TRIO Talent Search program is partnering with Paradigm Shift to offer a free 2020 Virtual STEMulous Camp, June 8 through 11, for Talent Search participants entering grades 6 through 8 in the Fall of 2020.
“During the four-day camp, students will participate in seven STEM activities at home and work through an adventure guide,” explains Trudy Ahrens, TRIO Director. “All students will receive a STEMulous kit, Choose Your Adventure Guide, Shift 7 Book, STEM supplies, and USB. Students will connect with other students, staff, and Paradigm Shift Leaders for two 30-minute Zoom sessions a day during the camp!”
Iowa Lakes Talent Search serves students in grades 6-12 in the following schools: Algona Public, Bishop Garrigan, Emmetsburg, Estherville Lincoln Central, North Union, Graettinger-Terril, Ruthven-Ayrshire, Okoboji, Spencer, and West Bend-Mallard. The program also serves students in grades 9-12 at the Spirit Lake High School.
“The STEM Camp will fill up fast with space limited to 50 students,” explains Trudy Ahrens, TRIO Director. “This year, the STEM camp will be virtual with participating students performing fun activities at home and connecting through Zoom.”
