(Spirit Lake, Iowa) The Spirit Lake Student Senate from Iowa Lakes Community College is hosting two community legislative forums at the Spirit Lake campus on Saturday, February 15 and Saturday, March 7 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. The public is encouraged to attend and participate at these forums held in the Tech room of the Spirit Lake Campus.
Student Senators Emma Dhyrcupp, of Milford, and Olivia Davis, of Spirit Lake, are delighted to host these forums encouraging interaction between legislators and residents regarding issues that are facing the state legislature.
Dhyrcupp notes, “We hope that the community will take advantage of this opportunity to talk to our legislators directly and to get the latest information from the statehouse in Des Moines.”
Senator Zach Whiting, Representative John Wills, and Representative Megan Jones will share updates from the Iowa State Capitol and will be taking questions from attendees about issues that are important to them.
Dhyrcupp and Davis will be developing their leadership skills and sharing an important civics lesson while providing a service to Lakes Area residents. These forums will allow community members to become involved at the basic grassroots level, where our area elected officials have the opportunity to hear the voice of the people who choose to attend and learn about the issues that matter most to locals.
