RUTH ANN AND JOE LOEBACH NURSING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED AT IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Iowa Lakes news

Iowa Lakes Community College is pleased to announce that a newly endowed nursing scholarship, established in 2024 by the Loebach family, will be available starting in Fall 2024. The Ruth Ann and Joe Loebach Nursing Scholarship is a tribute to Ruth Ann’s exceptional academic achievements, compassionate nature, and profound dedication to patient care.

Inspired by Ruth Ann’s firsthand experiences while residing in a local care center and her commitment to addressing the challenges within the healthcare industry, the family has created this scholarship to encourage aspiring individuals to pursue careers in direct patient care.

“Mom earned a degree in Residential Care Management and knew firsthand the challenge of recruiting and retaining qualified individuals to work directly with residents,” said Mary Loebach Riesen. “Too often, facilities find themselves short-staffed, to the detriment of patients and the stress of staff and administration. The Loebach family hopes that establishing this scholarship will encourage caring individuals to train for and enter direct patient care.”

The Ruth Ann and Joe Loebach Nursing Scholarship will financially assist nursing students. If they continue to meet the criteria, recipients will receive $1000 per academic year, split between the fall and spring semesters. Preference will be given to parishioners from St. John’s Parish in Bancroft, St. Michael’s Parish in Whittemore, and St. Cecilia Parish in Algona.

The Ruth Ann and Joe Loebach Nursing Memorial Scholarship will be one of the more than 150 scholarships for consideration when prospective and existing students complete the Iowa Lakes Scholarship application. Click here to learn more iowalakes.edu/scholarships.
