Run for the Cob – Fun for the Whole Family!
(Estherville, Iowa) Start off the Saturday of Sweet Corn Days with an event that is fun for the whole family! Run for the Cob will be held on August 3rd. This event is a part of Sweet Corn Days as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run begins at 8:00 AM, with all participants receiving a t-shirt, participation ribbon, and a coupon for a free ice cream cone.
The 10K race starts at 8:15 AM, with the 5K beginning at 8:30 AM. Both races will feature chip timing with immediate online results, and awards will be given at 9:30 AM. Medals will be awarded to the top 2 runners in each age category. The overall male and female winners of the 5K & 10K races will receive a gift bag, which includes gift cards to Central Perk and Don Jose’s.
The event organizers for this year’s Run for the Cob are encouraging families, businesses, or even class reunions to race-as-a-team and join the fight against Cancer. The team with the largest overall number of participants will win a $50 gift card to Woody’s Pizza.
Please note, any entries received before July 27 will only cost $15 for 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run, and $25 for the 5K & 10K races. After July 27, the prices increase to $20 for 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run, and $30 for the 5K & 10K races. All races start and end at the corner of 2nd Ave & N 6th St.
Packet pick-up and late registration will take place on Friday, August 2nd from 5:00-7:00 PM at Estherville Library Square (7th St & 1st Ave). If needed, you may pick up your packet on Saturday morning, before 8:00 AM at the race start.
