PRESS RELEASE: YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN; IOWA LAKES MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRESENTS SPRING MUSICAL APRIL 16-18

(Estherville, Iowa) – The Iowa Lakes Music Department will present the beloved musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown April 16–18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center.

Based on the iconic Peanuts characters, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a warm, funny and heartfelt musical told through a series of charming vignettes. The production follows Charlie Brown as he navigates the everyday ups and downs of childhood—school, friendship, self-doubt and the search for happiness—alongside Lucy, Linus, Snoopy, Schroeder, Sally and the rest of the gang.

Filled with humor, honesty and memorable songs, the musical captures the simple joys and quiet struggles that make growing up universal. With timeless themes and gentle optimism, the show celebrates friendship, perseverance and the reassuring reminder that everyone—even Charlie Brown—is good just the way they are.

Rehearsals began in early February and are actively underway under the direction of co-directors Carol Ayres Stueven and Lincoln Larsen. The cast and production team are focusing on ensemble work and individual development as they prepare a polished and engaging production for the community.

“This show reminds us that the smallest moments in life are often the most meaningful,” said co-director Carol Ayres Stueven. “Our cast has embraced the heart and honesty of these characters in such a genuine way. It’s been a joy to watch them grow in confidence and truly support one another through this process.”

“What makes You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown so special is its simplicity and relatability,” said co-director Lincoln Larsen. “Every audience member can see a little of themselves in these characters. Our goal is to create a production that feels joyful, sincere and full of heart for our entire community.”
