PRESS RELEASE: IOWA LAKES EXPANDS STUDENT PATHWAYS THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH WESTERN IOWA REGENTS RESOURCE CENTER

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (Dec. 3, 2025) Iowa Lakes Community College has joined the Western Iowa Regents Resource Center (WIRRC) network, expanding opportunities for students to seamlessly pursue bachelor’s degrees at Iowa’s public universities.

The partnership, coordinated through the Iowa Board of Regents and WIRRC, strengthens transfer pathways for community college students across northwest Iowa. Through this initiative, WIRRC transfer specialists will serve as direct resources to help Iowa Lakes students explore transfer options, navigate admission processes, and connect with programs offered by the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa.

“This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to removing barriers and creating clear, affordable pathways for students who want to continue their education at Iowa’s public universities,” said Scott Stokes, President of Iowa Lakes Community College. “By working together, we are expanding opportunities for students to achieve their academic and career goals.”

“We are thrilled that the WIRRC has added ILCC to the list of partnerships with community colleges in Western Iowa,” said Greta Rouse, member of the Iowa Board of Regents. “By providing personal resources and local points of contact, this will continue the expansion of opportunities for students to achieve their higher education goals.”

The WIRRC, supported by the Iowa Board of Regents, maintains staff across western Iowa including Creston, Council Bluffs, Harlan, Sheldon and Sioux City, to connect students to Regents university resources and degree programs.
