PRESS RELEASE: IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE ANNOUNCES MUSICAL “YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN”

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (December 12,2025) — ESTHERVILLE, Iowa — Happiness is announcing that Iowa Lakes Community College will be presenting “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” for our musical this spring! Come view a day in the life of our average blockhead, Charlie Brown from April 16–18, 2026 at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center in Estherville, under the direction of Carol Ayres Stueven and Lincoln Larsen.

Iowa Lakes Community College is inviting students and community members to audition for the cast of 4 men and 2 women and additional friends (chorus members) in Charlie Brown’s life to bring this classic comic strip to the stage! These roles are open to college students, high school students, and adult community members. Auditions will be held Jan. 26, 27 and 28 from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is based on the “Peanuts” comic strip by Charles M. Schulz, with book, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, additional dialogue by Michael Mayer, and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. The musical highlights a day in the life of Charlie Brown with his lovable Peanuts friends (Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, etc.), capturing their everyday adventures, heartfelt frustrations, and simple joys as they navigate friendship, imagination, and growing up—with humor, warmth, and unforgettable songs like Happiness and Suppertime.

“This musical is a wonderful opportunity for our community to bring the beloved Peanuts characters to life while exploring storytelling through humor, heart, and music,” said Lincoln Larsen, Director of Music and Performing Arts. “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown celebrates individuality, friendship, and the small moments that make growing up meaningful, and we encourage anyone interested to come out and audition.”
