The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) is federal legislation that provides various financial support to individuals and organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
CRRSAA includes a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) that provides more than $23 billion in emergency funding to higher education to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus.
This federal program allocates money to Iowa Lakes Community College to support the important work of addressing students' unmet needs by providing a minimum amount of funding that each institution devotes towards students' financial aid grants.
- Qualifying students must be enrolled at Iowa Lakes Community College during the spring 2021 semester.
- Qualifying students must have submitted a 2020/21 FAFSA before March 19, 2021.
- Qualifying students must be enrolled in and actively attending at least one for-credit course as of March 19, 2021.
No. Unfortunately, the U.S. Department of Education does not allow these funds to be used for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students and international students.
Financial aid grants for students may be used for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or emergency costs that arise due to Coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare.
These funds may go toward the cost of tuition, fees, and housing at Iowa Lakes Community College if you give your express permission.
No. Any money received through the CRRSAA fund does not need to be repaid.
No, these CRRSAA funds do not negate nor replace any financial aid. This fund is for one-time aid only.
All eligible students will receive $450. Students who received a Pell Grant in the spring 2021 semester will receive an additional $500 or a total CRSSA payment of $950.
No, this is a ‘block’ grant given to all eligible students.
Eligible students have the opportunity to sign up for a direct deposit and/or to pay off their current balance due to Iowa Lakes.
