Students enrolled at Iowa Lakes Community College in high-employment demand programs qualify for additional state funding through the Future Ready Iowa, Last Dollar Scholarship program.
Earlier this month, Gov. Reynolds announced over 16 million in new funding for the Future Ready Iowa Act, with $13 million allotted to the Last Dollar Scholarship program. This state aid will bridge the funding gap for students whose federal and state aid does not cover the entire cost of the program.
“Students must complete the FAFSA to qualify for the Last Dollar Scholarship program and should get the FAFSA completed as soon as possible,” said Stephen Pelzer, Financial Aid Director at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Pelzer also notes, “This is not a need-based scholarship, so all are encourage to complete the FAFSA that are enrolled in one of our eligible programs.”
The following programs offered at Iowa Lakes Community College qualify for the Last Dollar Scholarship: Agriculture Production Technology, Aviation & Airport Management, Business Administration & Management, Computer Programming, Construction Technology, Digital, Social, & Broadcast Productions, Electrical Technology, Environmental Studies, Farm Equipment & Diesel Technology, Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Nursing PN & RN, Surgical Technology, Veterinary Technician, Web Development & Design, Welding, and Wind Energy & Turbine Technology.
The Last Dollar Scholarship program is available to recent high school graduates and employed or unemployed adults who are seeking to improve their skills and have been a resident of Iowa for at least the past five years.
