Last Dollar Scholarship Impacts Iowa Lakes’ Students: Over $375,000 Awarded for Fall Term
(Estherville, Iowa) The Last Dollar Scholarship impacts eligible Iowa Lakes Community College students by paying tuition for career and technical programs in high-demand industries. More than 220 students benefited from Last Dollar Scholarship awards totaling over $375,000 for the Fall 2020 term.
The Last Dollar Scholarship helps Iowa Lakes’ students obtain the education and hands-on skills needed to be competitive in an increasingly technical job market. The qualifying programs tend to be in essential industries requiring more skilled workers to meet the current and projected workforce demand. As a result, graduates in these programs often obtain employment in good-paying positions, which can be life-changing for many families.
The Last Dollar Scholarship fills tuition gaps not covered by other federal and state grants and scholarships for eligible applicants enrolled in qualifying programs. Graduates of these programs are ready for cutting-edge, good-paying careers in industries needing skilled workers.
The Last Dollar Scholarship serves four key industries: health care and biosciences; information technology; advanced manufacturing production, installation, and maintenance; and construction and engineering.
The following programs offered at Iowa Lakes Community College qualify for the Last Dollar Scholarship: Agriculture Production Technology, Aviation & Airport Management, Business Administration & Management, Computer Programming, Construction Technology, Digital, Social, & Broadcast Productions, Electrical Technology, Environmental Studies, Farm Equipment & Diesel Technology, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Nursing, Surgical Technology, Veterinary Technician, Welding, and Wind Energy & Turbine Technology.
