(Estherville, Iowa) Three musicians attending Iowa Lakes Community College were selected for the Iowa Collegiate All-Star Honor Concert Band as part of the 76th Annual Iowa All-State Music Festival from November 17 through 19.
Annika Poeppe, flute; Shelby Hoff, tenor sax; and Haily Green, trumpet, were nominated by their college instructors, and then selected by a committee who chose the top musicians for each instrument. The musicians will audition for chair placement during the group rehearsal before the concert.
“All three of these students are very deserving of selection to the All-Star Band,” commented Carol Ayres, Instrumental Music Instructor at Iowa Lakes. “They are great students who contribute a lot to the Music Department at Iowa Lakes.”
After practicing for two days, the All-State Collegiate Honor Concert Band, an 80-person band filled with musicians from 18 Iowa colleges, including community colleges, private colleges, and universities.
