Iowa Lakes Students Honor Veterans During Brushy Creek Honor Flight

Iowa Lakes participants

(Estherville, Iowa) Iowa Lakes Community College students drove to Fort Dodge to bring music to the 20th Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight Welcome Home Ceremony. Music students from Iowa Lakes Community College joined Iowa Central Community College students and others at Fort Dodge in a concert band to welcome home heroes on Saturday, August 28th.

“We had a great group of students give up their Saturday night to honor our Veterans that were part of the Honor Flight.  We played a concert for their families as they awaited their return.  Austin Connerley, freshman trumpet from Charles City, played “Taps” for the four fallen soldiers whose flag took the trip.

The Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight helps fly veterans to Washington D.C., where they tour various war memorials, visit Arlington National Cemetery, and witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
