Iowa Lakes Spring Softball Camps Open for Registration

(Estherville, Iowa) Registration is still open for the Youth and Advanced Softball Camps being offered by the Iowa Lakes Community College Softball team on February 29 and March 1 at the Christensen building. These camps are an excellent opportunity for young ladies to learn the fundamentals of softball from college-level athletes.

The Youth Softball camp, on February 29, 2020, will be for grades K-6 and the Advanced Softball Camp on Sunday, March 1, 2020, will be for girls in grades 7-12. Both camps will be at the Christensen building, located on the corner of South 18th St and 7th Ave South, across the street from the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.

The Youth Camp will focus on the fundamentals of softball, including sessions on throwing, hitting, fielding, and base running. Grades K-3 will run from 1 pm – 3 pm and grades 4 -6 will run from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm. The cost will be twenty-five dollars.

The Advanced Camp will consist of four sessions. The first session will focus on outfield defensive skills, including a variety of throwing and fielding techniques and drills, and will take place from 12 pm – 1:30 pm.

The second session, from 1:30 pm – 3 pm, will consist of offensive skills, including hitting techniques and drills. The third session will run from 3 pm – 4:30 pm and will focus on Infield defensive technique drills. The fourth session’s focus will include the mechanics for pitching and catching and will run from 5 pm – 6 pm. The cost for the Advanced Camp is $35 for one session, $60 for two sessions, $90 for three sessions, or $120 for all four sessions.

Each participant in either the Youth or Advanced Softball Camps will receive an Iowa Lakes Softball drawstring bag, along with invaluable softball training.
