Iowa Lakes offers summer courses for students seeking to ‘get ahead’
Students who want to get ahead – or catch up – on classes with their four-year or community college will be interested in classes planned for this summer at Iowa Lakes Community College.
A variety of transferable course work is available with one class beginning as early as May 11, and additional classes starting in mid-May just after many students return home for the summer.
The first class is a Fundamentals of Communication course which will be offered at the Estherville campus from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the first day of class on May 11. This course is a Hybrid Fast Track and will be completed on May 26. Classes are both face-to-face and online. Students interested in this course are encouraged to register by April 27.
A Music Appreciation class starts May 14 at the Emmetsburg campus. And, Iowa Lakes also has another Fundamentals of Oral Communication class which starts in late May at the Spencer campus.
Other course offerings include such classes as: Composition, several math classes, Intro to Sociology, Human Relations, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Intro to Business as well as Business Statistics. For a full listing of courses, individuals are encouraged to check our course schedules page.
The college offers summer courses online, face-to-face, hybrid and hybrid fast track as well as via the Iowa Lakes Video Conferencing/Television system available at all five campuses. Several of the summer courses are provided in versatile formats and students can often find one to fit their schedule.
Students take the Fast Track classes for many reasons. Some want to lighten their course loads the following college semester; others use the classes to reach the goal of graduating early; while other students take this opportunity to “catch up.”
Iowa Lakes has campuses in Algona, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer and Spirit Lake.
