IOWA LAKES MUSIC DEPARTMENT STARTS T-SHIRTS FOR TARZAN® DRIVE

Tarzan Musican Tshirt Drive

(Estherville, Iowa) A t-shirt drive has been launched by the Music Department of Iowa Lakes Community College, inviting participation from both community and college to donate old, clean t-shirts in shades of gray, black, brown, forest green, and navy to repurpose into costumes for the Spring 2024 musical production of Tarzan®.

The T-shirts for Tarzan® Drive will begin immediately and continue across all Iowa Lakes campuses until there are enough t-shirts for the costumes. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to contribute t-shirts to this cause. Collection bins are available on each campus for convenience.

“We’re thrilled to embark on this fun and resourceful journey with our t-shirt drive for Tarzan®. We warmly invite the community to join us. This t-shirt drive is not just about donating old t-shirts; it’s about being a part of something bigger, something artistic and environmentally conscious. Even t-shirts with images are welcome as long as they align with our color palette of black, brown, forest green, or navy and are clean. This t-shirt drive is an opportunity to clean out those closets, contribute to an exciting production, and see your beloved tees transformed into something magical on stage. Let’s make this a successful drive filled with community spirit!” exclaimed Professor of Instrumental Music Carol Ayres.

This t-shirt drive represents a commitment to sustainability and creativity. Repurposed t-shirts will help bring the vibrant and diverse environment of Tarzan® to life on stage, showcasing the department’s innovative approach to costume design while promoting recycling and environmental responsibility.

The community and college supporting the arts are crucial aspects of this endeavor. Contributions are essential to ensuring the performers wear imaginative costumes that capture the essence of Tarzan® on stage.

Auditions will be on January 28, 29, and 30 at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center. The large cast will include students from grade 4 through adults, with roles available for Young Tarzan, Young Terk, and numerous other adult and youth roles. The performances will be on April 11, 12, and 13.
