Iowa Lakes Jazz Camp Concerts Announced

(Estherville, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department will be hosting the 42nd annual Reggie Schive Jazz Camp with six concerts featuring The Headliners, camp participants, jazz camp staff, and camp alums from Monday, June 12, through Thursday, June 15.

The Reggie Schive Jazz Camp is the longest-running jazz education camp in the United States. Campers entering 7th grade and older will spend five fun-filled music-packed days learning from world-renowned professional jazz musicians and educators.

The 2023 Headliners include the following musicians:

  • Joey Gulizia, percussion, Omaha. Neb.
  • Andy Hall, bass, Lincoln, Neb.
  • Rod Fleeman, guitar, Kansas City, Mo.
  • Michael Gurciullo, trumpet and vocals, Mesa, Ariz.
  • CJ Kocher, saxophones, Vermillion, S.D.
  • Ryan Middleton, saxophones, Iowa City, Iowa
  • Dan Cassady, trombone, Manson, Iowa
  • Steve Smith, keyboards, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Concert Schedule:

  • Monday, June 12, 7 pm – Headliners Concert – This concert will feature Jazz on the Queen II at Arnolds Park Amusement Park, 37 Lake Street, Arnolds Park. Tickets are required and are available to purchase for $30 online at iowa-lakes.ticketleap.com or by calling 712.362.7902. This concert will relocate to the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center, 300 South 8th Street, Estherville, in case of inclement weather.
  • Tuesday, June 13, 7 pm – Headliners Concert – This concert will be held at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.
  • Wednesday, June 14, 7 pm – Headliners, Staff and Alumni Big Band Concert  – This concert will feature the big band music of Roger Neumann at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.
  • Thursday, June 15, 3:30 & 6:30 pm – Student Concerts – These two concerts will be held at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center. The first concert will be the Student Combo Concert at 3:30, and the second concert will be the Student Big Band Concert with Headliners at 6:30. Free admission (no ticket needed) for both Thursday concerts.
  • Thursday, June 15, approximately 9 pm – Headliners Concert (after the Student Big Band Concert). This final concert of the week will be held at Little Swan Lake Winery, 1350 320th Avenue, Estherville (just north of Superior). Reservations are recommended; call (712) 858-4592.
