Iowa Lakes Community College Softball Team Announces Spring Softball Camp for Area Youth
(Estherville, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Community College Softball team announced today that they will be hosting a Spring Softball Camp on Saturday, February 9 for grades K-6 and Sunday, February 10, 2019, for grades 7 – 12. This camp is being held at the Christensen building, located on the corner of South 18th St and 7th Ave South, across the street from the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
During this year’s camp, grades K-6 will focus on the fundamentals of softball, including sessions on throwing, hitting, fielding, and base running. Grades K-3 will run from 1 pm – 3 pm and grades 4 -6 will run from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm. The cost will be $25, and each participant will receive an Iowa Lakes Softball bracelet and game poster.
The camp held on Sunday, February 10, 2019, is an advanced camp for grades 7 -12 and it will consist of three sessions. The first session will focus on defensive skills including a variety of throwing and fielding techniques and drills. The first session is scheduled to take place from 1 pm – 3 pm.
The second session will run from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm and will consist of training to enhance offensive skills, including hitting techniques and drills, base running and agilities. The third session will run from 6 pm – 7 pm and with the main focus of this session being pitching and catching drills and techniques. The cost is $45 for one session, $80 for two sessions, and $75 for all three sessions.
The Iowa Lakes Spring Softball camps provide area youth with the opportunity to be exposed to college level training. This year’s camp is hosted by the Iowa Lakes Softball players and coaches with the goal of expanding the knowledge of softball to younger generations of athletes.
