Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department Announces The 18th Annual Elizabethan Madrigal Feaste
(Estherville, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department is proud to announce the Eighteenth Annual Elizabethan Madrigal Feaste. This year’s festivities will be held at the Estherville VFW on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, at 6 pm.
The Elizabeth Madrigal Feaste pays tribute to the Christmas Feaste that was an annual custom, in early England. This custom originated from the celebration of the New Year and was an extravagant display of rejoicing and toasting of the twelve days of Christmas.
The 18th Annual Elizabethan Madrigal Feaste is a recreation of some of the most important traditions like the procession of the boar’s head, the jester’s hijinks, strolling carolers, Wassail toasts, flaming pudding, and a special royal dessert. Renaissance costumes will be worn by the performers, and are optional for those attending as guests.
There will be a delicious five-course meal served with the opportunity to participate in some hilarious comedic entertainment, and to listen to the splendid sounds of the season.
Performers for this years’ event include the Royal Iowa Lakes Chamber Choir, My Lady of the Lakers Handbell Ringers, The King’s Brass Ensemble and Her Majesty’s Recorder Consort.
Tickets are $20 per person, with limited seating available. Reservations must be received in the Music Department and paid in full by Friday, Nov. 16. Credit card reservations may be made by phone or via email. No refunds will be issued after this date.
Start your holiday season off right by celebrating the gallantry, beauty, and simplicity of the true meaning of Christmas!
