(Emmetsburg, Iowa) Iowa Lakes Community College announces the debut of an innovative addition to the Emmetsburg Campus: an outdoor Fitness Court® situated next to the Arthur and Audrey Smith Wellness Center. This exciting enhancement promises to elevate the well-being of residents by offering accessible fitness opportunities. Iowa Lakes invites everyone to attend a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 9:30 AM to discover the healthy benefits firsthand.

Funding for the project was made possible through partnerships with a $30,000 grant from the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) and local community partners, including the Palo Alto County Gaming Development Corporation, the City of Emmetsburg, the Emmetsburg Community Development Corporation, Ag Processing Incorporated (AGP), Palo Alto County Health System (PACHS), Dan Cooper Builders, Hallet Materials, Iowa Lakes Construction Technology Department, and Great Lakes Concrete.

“We are deeply appreciative of the joint efforts of the Healthy Infrastructure Initiative with the City of Emmetsburg and the generous sponsorships from numerous local partners that have made the Fitness Court® a reality. This free outdoor fitness center, available 24 hours a day, offers a new opportunity to socialize and exercise, encouraging healthier lifestyles and enhancing the quality of life for our community members and students. We couldn’t have done it without you,” said Kyle Norris, Executive Dean.

The new Fitness Court® is designed to be inclusive, catering to adults aged 14 and older of all fitness levels. Considered the world’s best outdoor gym, the Fitness Court® allows users to leverage their body weight to complete a workout using seven stations. To further enhance the experience, users can download the free Fitness Court App—a coach—in—your—pocket—style platform that transforms the world’s best outdoor gym into a digitally supported wellness experience. The Fitness Court App is available for iOS and Android.

“We are excited to have Iowa Lakes Community College join us in the journey to health and wellness as we make a positive impact building Healthy Infrastructure across America,” said Mitch Menaged, Founder of the National Fitness Campaign. “The addition of the Fitness Court®, along with ongoing engagement in healthy lifestyles, demonstrates a tremendous commitment to the campus and greater community.”
