Iowa Lakes Community College Announces Zuzu African Acrobats for Convocation
(Estherville, Iowa) Iowa Lakes Community College presents the ZUZU African Acrobats as the Spring convocation on February 18. Iowa Lakes offers convocations as an opportunity to bring culturally diverse events to campus and the community. Admission is free and is open to the public.
The ZUZU African Acrobats are a high energy acrobatic group from Mombasa Kenya who has performed in over twenty-five countries in the last ten years. The show blends “circus” acrobats with popular dance moves using live and recorded African music.
The Spring Convocation will occur at 9:00 am in the Estherville Campus Gym and at 1:00 pm in the Emmetsburg Campus Gym. Spencer, Spirit Lake, and Algona campuses and online students will receive a televised broadcast of the event at 9:00 am
The ZUZU African Acrobats choreographed routines are well known for fast pyramid building, chair balancing, hat juggling, super-fast rope skipping, and hoop diving with contortion and comedy. The group, a semi-finalist on “America’s Got Talent,” has since gone onto perform on “The Late Show with David Lettermen,” numerous NBA half times, and three NFL Super Bowls.
