Iowa Lakes Community College Announces 2018-2019 Convocation Schedule
(Estherville, Iowa) Lakes Community College announced today the 2018-2019 convocation schedule for the Emmetsburg and Estherville Campuses. Iowa Lakes offers convocations as an opportunity to bring culturally diverse events to campus and the community. This year’s convocations are scheduled to take place in October 2018 and in February 2019. Admission is free, and the convocations are open to the public.
Joey Guilizia will kick-off the first convocation with a presentation on the evolution of the modern drum set. This convocation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 30th at 10 am on the Emmetsburg Campus in the Smith Wellness Center Gymnasium and on Wednesday, October 31st at 9 am on the Estherville Campus in the Iowa Lakes Gymnasium.
Guilizia will identify that the modern drum set is categorized as a truly global invention, with most of its parts originating thousands of years ago. Ultimately, the modern drum set did not exist until the twentieth century, making it the youngest major acoustic instrument in existence. In this convocation, Joey Gulizia will show the drum sets roots and how each part of the set came together.
The second convocation scheduled at Iowa Lake Community College will take place on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, with a 10 am performance on the Emmetsburg Campus in the Smith Wellness Center Gymnasium and a 1 pm performance on the Estherville Campus in the Iowa Lakes Gymnasium.
This convocation will feature professional, motivational speaker, Amy Dee. With more than 20 years of experience, Dee has earned a national reputation for keynotes, closing programs, and breakout sessions. Her signature brand incorporates side-splitting humor while explaining how to harness the science of behavior. Dee emphasizes the power an individual has to choose every aspect of their lives including how you deal with difficult people at work and how to maintain positive relationships at home.
