(Estherville, Iowa) The second annual Iowa Lakes Community College All-State Choir Camp, featuring over 130 students from 30 area schools, will offer a free concert at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center on Sunday, August 13, at 6 pm.

Iowa Lakes offers the All-State Choir Camp to help high school students prepare for the 2023 All-State Music Festival, a regional representation of the finest student musicians in Iowa. During the intensive two-day camp, students learn and fine-tune the songs selected for the All-State audition process held in October.

“Most of the All-State Choir Camps for high school students cost $100 to $200, making it a struggle for many families to have their children attend. Music teachers and piano players from area schools are donating their time to put on this free camp, especially for those students whose families couldn’t afford an All-State Camp,” said Iowa Lakes Music Professor Brett Fuelberth. “Last year, we did this for the first time and had 140 students attend.”

This camp couldn’t have been free without the support of the following businesses that donated food: Redwood Farms and Farmers Union Industries the Estherville, Spencer and Spirit Lake Hy-Vee stores, and Kwik Star.

Camp Directors Luke Miller, Vocal Music Teacher in Spirit Lake, and Fuelberth welcome everyone to attend the free concert, which features seven songs, “America, the Beautiful,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “Regina Coeli,” “Ama Namin,” “Stomp the Fire,” “Through Love to Light” and “I am Loved.”

A special thank you to area choir directors from the Spencer, Sioux Central, West Lyon, Emmetsburg, Spirit Lake, East Sac County, and Storm Lake school districts who have donated their time to make this camp possible.
