Show Your Promise to Invest in Students in Your County

The Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation is launching the new County Promise Scholarship fundraiser this February, which will replace the annual scholarship fundraisers and events held in the past. Donations will provide residents with scholarships to attend Iowa Lakes Community College and achieve educational and career goals. This annual online fundraising campaign will allow businesses and individuals from each county served by Iowa Lakes to invest in their neighbors while contributing to the region’s economic vibrancy.

“The opportunity to pursue a quality education improves not only the lives of our students—but also the communities where they live and work. Eighty-two percent of Iowa Lakes’ graduates live and work within our college’s district upon graduation. Your investment grows with them and helps to grow our communities,” explained Jolene Rogers, Iowa Lakes Executive Director of Community & Business Relations.

For this fundraiser, donors specify both the amount and the county they want to support. Every dollar of this campaign goes to the county scholarship fund of each donor’s choosing, building a sustained fund benefitting students and the designated county.

“This new campaign will ensure that every gift will secure scholarship dollars to allow students from your county the opportunity to attend Iowa Lakes for years to come,” said Rogers.

The goal is to raise $60,000 each for Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, and Palo Alto counties, with hopes to award up to $4,000 per eligible applicant. The County Promise Scholarships are applied to cover tuition, books, and mandatory college fees after federal and state financial aid to ensure that each donation impacts as many students as possible.

“One of the selection criteria is community service and involvement, which rewards local individuals who are already supportive of the local community. These scholarships help strengthen our workforce and keep families living in our communities,” said Alison Mason, Institutional Advancement Manager at Iowa Lakes.

The Iowa Lakes Foundation will feature each county’s campaign results weekly on the Iowa Lakes Foundation Facebook page and website.
