First Annual Iowa Lakes Music Hall of Fame Announced
(Estherville, Iowa) Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department announces their first Iowa Lakes Music Hall of Fame. The event will include a banquet and concert featuring alumnus, Mark Lair. This celebration will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in the SERT Facility located on the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes.
The Iowa Lakes Music Hall of Fame will recognize a select group of music luminaries, visionaries, leaders, and entities that have made significant contributions to the growth and advancement of our music department. We will be basing these four awards on the following criteria: 1) Impact: The nominee has made an extraordinary impact on the development or growth of Iowa Lakes Community College music. 2) Influence: The nominee has significantly influenced the work of musicians, music lovers and/or the society at large. 3) Innovation: The nominee has broken new ground with originality or creativity, has established new standards, and/or has broken through boundaries to propel Iowa Lakes Community College music. 4) Commitment: The nominee has committed an endless amount of time and energy to Iowa Lakes Community College music. Nominations for next year’s awards are open now and can be found on the Music Department website (www.iowalakes.edu/music) under the left-hand navigation menu option Music Hall of Fame.
Over the years, Iowa Lakes Community College has produced incredible and accomplished alumni musicians who have influenced generations of music lovers. Plus we have the most incredible friends that help support and encourage our music department. The Iowa Lakes Alumni and Friends have decided to recognize and honor these alumni and friends with the Iowa Lakes Music Hall of Fame.
We hope that you will join us in celebrating not only Iowa Lakes Community College’s rich music history, but also in celebrating the music in all of us. Anyone who would like to meet the inductees of the Music Hall of Fame and share in the memories of the past is encouraged to attend. The event is open to the public.
