ELIZABETHAN MADRIGAL FEASTE AT NEW PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Choir

(Estherville, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department is proud to announce the 22nd Annual Elizabethan Madrigal Feaste. This year’s festivities will be held at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center in Estherville on December 4 and 5 at 6:30 pm each night. Ticket sales begin November 8, with reservations required by November 29.

The Elizabeth Madrigal Feaste pays tribute to the Christmas Feaste that was an annual custom in early England and celebrated the true meaning of Christmas. This custom originated from the celebration of the New Year and was an extravagant display of rejoicing and toasting of the twelve days of Christmas.

The 22nd Annual Elizabethan Madrigal Feaste recreates some of the most important traditions like the procession of the boar’s head, the jester’s hijinks, strolling carolers, Wassail toasts, flaming pudding, and a special royal dessert. Performers will wear renaissance costumes, and guests are welcome to wear costumes, but they are optional.

There will be a delicious four-course meal served with the opportunity to participate in some hilarious comedic entertainment and to listen to the beautiful sounds of the season performed by the Royal Iowa Lakes Chamber Choir.

Tickets are $20 per person, with limited seating available. Reservations must be received in the Music Department and paid in full by November 29 via cash, check (payable to Iowa Lakes Music Department), or credit card. Tickets can be reserved and purchased at iowa-lakes.ticketleap.com/elizabethan-madrigal-feaste or by calling the Iowa Lakes Music Department at 712.362.7902.  No refunds are available after November 29.

Start your holiday season off right by celebrating the gallantry, beauty, and simplicity of the true meaning of Christmas!
