Donald R. Tietz Charitable Foundation Pledges Additional Five Years to Iowa Lakes Tietz Entrepreneurial Center
The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College met Tuesday afternoon via Zoom meeting and reviewed a wide variety of topics – including a new pledge and extension of financial commitment by the Donald R. Tietz Charitable Foundation in support of the Iowa Lakes Tietz Entrepreneurial Center located on the Algona Campus.
Jolene Rogers, Executive Director of Community and Business Relations, presented and received Board approval to accept the pledge.
“The pledge and extension of financial commitment by the Donald R. Tietz Charitable Foundation will begin on July 1, 2021, and will pay $375,000 over a five-year term. The Iowa Lakes Tietz Entrepreneurial Center has many programming options scheduled to take place within our communities, and this financial support will allow us to serve the needs of our constituents,” said Rogers.
The Iowa Lakes Board of Trustees also heard from Maggie Burger of Speer Financial regarding the bond sale for the 260E job training project. The Board accepted the bid and adopted the resolution.
The Board also approved for Iowa Lakes to move forward with the new $795,000 Industrial New Job Training Program Bond Sale. Four companies were included in the project, which generates a training fund for their new employees. The 10-year bond was a true low-interest bid of 1.268 percent.
Following Roger’s presentation, Robert Leifeld, Vice President of Administration, provided an update on the most recent Higher Learning Commission’s (HLC) visit.
“The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) visit provided the opportunity for Iowa Lakes to highlight our faculty-driven assessment process,” said Robert Leifeld, Vice President of Administration.
Additionally, approval was granted to Scott Stokes, Executive Dean of the Estherville Campus, to move forward with an Air Force JROTC Services Agreement.
