Clyde and Grace Sanborn Scholarship Awarded

(Estherville, Iowa) Clyde and Grace Sanborn, former area business owners, had a great interest in young people’s education. In 1975, the couple established a scholarship fund with Iowa Lakes Community College. Over the years, the fund has grown to award several scholarships to Iowa Lakes Community College students.

Recipients of this scholarship must enroll full-time at the Estherville campus, have a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, and FAFSA results determine financial need. Recipients must graduate from one of the following high schools: Estherville Lincoln Central, Greattinger-Terril, North Union or Martin County West (student must have a Dunnell, Minn. address). The scholarship award must be used for tuition, books or fees.

The 2019-2020 recipients are:

  • Brooke Judd, Lake Park;
  • Brooke Clarke, Noah Heifner, Sydney Swanson, Brianne Vermeys and Vanessa Woelber, all of Estherville;
  • Emily Michalec, Ringsted.
