Chris Norton to speak at Iowa Lakes Community College

Chris NortonEveryone is invited to hear author and SCI CAN Foundation founder Chris Norton speak Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Iowa Lakes Community College. The event is free of charge.

Norton’s presentation will center around the three secrets to overcoming even the most challenging obstacles and realizing the great power within us all.

In 2010, Norton suffered a severe spinal cord injury while playing college football. Initially he was given a 3 percent chance to ever regain movement from the neck down, but he defeated the odds and walked across the stage during his college graduation — a video viewed more than 300 million times across the world.

Norton has been featured in the media and on national TV shows, including Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, FOX & Friends, and CBS Early Show. Filming has also begun for a full-length documentary on his story by an award-winning film company.

Norton is set to speak in the Estherville campus gymnasium from 10 to 11 a.m. and the Emmetsburg campus gymnasium from 1 to 2 p.m., both on Feb. 7.
