Living on campus at the Emmetsburg location offers students the perfect mix of convenience, community, and support. Whether focused on academics, exploring extracurricular activities, or connecting with peers, on-campus housing helps you make the most of your college experience.
Housing options
The Emmetsburg Campus features modern residence halls that provide students with a safe and comfortable living environment.
- Spinnaker Hall: Offers cozy, shared rooms with extra-long twin mattresses, dressers, and a dorm-sized refrigerator for each room.
- Ballaster Hall: Provides the same great amenities as Spinnaker, ensuring a consistent and welcoming experience for all residents.
- Ballaster: 31 units
Spinnaker: 11 units + RA room
Catamaran: 4 units (For sophomores who apply with a group, the process is done in the spring semester for the next academic year.)
These residence halls are conveniently located near classes, dining facilities, and campus resources, making staying connected to everything Iowa Lakes offers easy.
Each unit includes:

Students may bring a small (1000 watt max.) microwave, their own televisions, computers and personal items as they desire.
The apartments at Catamaran are furnished two-bedroom apartments with a living room, kitchen and large bathroom.

- Extra-long Single (twin) Bed (6'6")
- Dressers
Students may bring a small (1000 watt max.) microwave, their own televisions, computers and personal items as they desire.
Housing and food service is $7,880 for the 2026-27 Academic Year, which includes living in the dorms and the 15 meal plan which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday-Friday at Dining Services.
Housing and food service on the 17 meal plan is $8,410, which includes living in the dorms, three meals a day Monday-Friday at Dining Services and one meal on Saturday and one meal on Sunday. Residents may eat at Pizza Ranch or Kirby’s Café for the two meals on the weekends, when they are signed up for this meal plan.
Housing and food service on the 19 meal plan is $8,920, which includes living in the dorms, three meals a day Monday-Friday at Dining Services and two meals on Saturday and two meals on Sunday. Residents may eat at Pizza Ranch or Kirby’s Café for the four meals on the weekends, when they are signed up for this meal plan.
These prices do not include the summer term.
Prices above are for August to December and January to May.
Facilities close between semesters. Students wishing to stay during the breaks are not charged to stay, but must approve stays with the Housing Coordinator.
Summer Housing is available and charged on a per diem contract for each day they live in housing and a charge for 2 meals a day (breakfast and lunch). Students who live in housing for the summer have the option to have the 2 meals or not.
