Aviation Alumni Spotlight: Jacob Doran

Jacob Doran, a 2021 graduate of Iowa Lakes, is now a Pilot/First Officer with Sun Country Airlines. He credits the Iowa Lakes Aviation program’s flexibility as one of its greatest strengths, allowing students to earn their flight ratings before pursuing a bachelor’s degree in another field at a significantly lower cost.

One of Jacob’s favorite memories is spending snow days at the dorms with friends. During his time at Iowa Lakes, he was active in the Aviation Club and served as a peer tutor.

His advice for current students: “Regularly check in with your advisor to make sure you’re taking the right classes and earning the correct credits. It will help ensure you graduate on track.”
