Autumn Larsen Congrats

Iowa Lakes Community College is pleased to announce that Autumn Larsen has been selected as the new TRIO Director, pending board and grant approval. With an extensive background in education and community involvement, Larsen brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

As the TRIO Director, Larsen will oversee the TRIO Talent Search and Student Support Services (SSS) programs funded under the federal TRIO initiative. These programs are designed to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of higher education and increase college access, retention, and graduation rates among underrepresented populations.

Troy Larson, Dean of Students at Iowa Lakes Community College, expressed his enthusiasm about Larsen’s appointment.

“Autumn Larsen’s passion for student success and extensive experience in education and community engagement make her the ideal candidate to lead our TRIO programs. We are confident that our TRIO initiatives will continue to thrive under her leadership and positively impact students’ lives.”

Larsen brings a diverse skill set to her new role, including exceptional organizational abilities, strong communication skills, and a proven track record of effective decision-making. Her commitment to student advocacy and community involvement aligns seamlessly with Iowa Lakes Community College’s mission.

Prior to her appointment as TRIO Director, Larsen served as the College & Career Transition Coach at Iowa Lakes Community College, assisting students in developing academic, college, and career goals. She also was Intermediary Connections Coordinator/RPP Coordinator, facilitating work-based learning activities for K-12 schools and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.

Larsen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Northwestern College and a Master of Education in Adult & Higher Education Administration from the University of Sioux Falls. She is a certified FAFSA coach through the Iowa College Access Network. She has participated in various professional development programs, including the Iowa State University Leadership Institute for a New Century.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Larsen is actively involved in the community, serving on the Armstrong Library Board, Emmet County Foundation Board of Directors, Armstrong Planning and Zoning Commission, and as a 4-H Leader.

Larsen replaces Trudy Ahrens, recently promoted to the Executive Director of Human Resources.
