Summer college credit program
Get a Head Start with the Summer College Credit Program!
The Summer College Credit Program (SCCP) is a unique opportunity for Iowa high school students in grades 9–12 to get a jump start on their future by earning college credit during the summer months. Through this program, students can take college-level career and technical education (CTE) courses at no cost. Thanks to state appropriations, all tuition, fees, textbooks, and required supplies are fully covered—removing financial barriers for both students and school districts.
SCCP focuses on courses connected to Iowa’s most in-demand career fields, including human services, health sciences, applied science, technology, manufacturing, and business. By enrolling, students not only explore their career interests but also begin building pathways toward industry-recognized credentials, future degrees, and valuable workplace skills.
A major goal of SCCP is to expand access to high-quality learning opportunities while helping students make the most of Iowa’s CTE facilities. Innovative summer programming ensures that students can experience college-level expectations while maintaining the flexibility they need during the summer. All courses are offered online, making it easier for students to balance their studies with summer activities, work, or other commitments.
