Iowa Lakes Community College is a certified Global Wind Organisation (GWO) training provider. According to globalwindsafety.org, “GWO training standards are courses that teach you to understand and reduce the risk associated with safety hazards in the wind turbine industry.”
Iowa Lakes offers GWO Training at the Estherville Campus, including Basic Safety Training (BST) certification and other safety training. GWO Training involves four core modules: Fire Awareness, First Aid and CPR, Manual Handling, and Working at Heights. A GWO certificate shows competency and knowledge of basic safety in the wind turbine setting.
