34TH ANNUAL IOWA LAKES JAZZ FESTIVAL: A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC AND TALENT

(Estherville, Iowa) The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department is thrilled to announce the 34th Annual Jazz Festival, scheduled from November 14 to 16, 2023. This year’s festival promises an exceptional lineup of jazz artists, captivating performances, and enriching educational opportunities for jazz enthusiasts and students.

The distinguished jazz artists headlining this year’s event include:

Michael Gurciullo: Renowned for his mesmerizing vocals and trumpet prowess.
Andy Hall: A virtuoso on bass, adding depth and groove to the ensemble.
Joey Gulizia: A master of percussion, infusing rhythm and energy into the music.
Steve Smith: A keyboard maestro weaving harmonious melodies.

The festival kicks off on Tuesday, November 14, with a convocation performance open to the public. The jazz artists will take the stage at 10:00 a.m. in the gymnasium of the Iowa Lakes Community College Emmetsburg campus. This event promises to set the stage for an unforgettable musical experience.

On Thursday, November 16, Iowa Lakes will host the traditional school clinic, beginning with a convocation at 9:00 a.m. in the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center, featuring our guest jazz artists. This captivating performance is also open to the public.

Following the convocation, a series of clinics covering jazz improvisation, guitar, percussion, and bass will commence at 10:00 a.m., providing valuable insights into the world of jazz music. The afternoon session will be dedicated to high school jazz bands, offering them a unique opportunity to enhance their skills under the guidance of experts.

The grand finale of the Iowa Lakes Jazz Festival will be a sensational concert featuring guest jazz artists, including Michael Gurciullo, Joey Gulizia, Andy Hall, Steve Smith, and the Iowa Lakes Community College Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Gurciullo will serenade the audience with iconic songs from the Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Louis Armstrong, and Louis Prima songbooks.

This not-to-be-missed grand finale performance will occur on November 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center on the Estherville Campus. Admission is free, and a goodwill donation is encouraged to support the arts.
