31st Annual Fun & Wellness Day to feature storytelling, humor

From the back woods of Minnesota a keynote speaker will share his interests with humor and stories at the 31st Annual Fun & Wellness Day at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg on Wednesday, May 16.

Al Batt

Minnesotan humorist and author Al Batt, who writes humor and nature columns for many newspapers and magazines, also hosts a radio show about nature, writes nationally-syndicated cartoon strips and has hosted TV shows too. He is the author of the book “A Life Gone to the Birds.”

Fun & Wellness Day features activities, health screenings, workshops and entertainment for anyone age 50 and better. Doors open at 7:45 a.m. for registration, a continental breakfast and display booths. The morning keynote address begins at 8:45 a.m.

As always, this event features a plethora of concurrent sessions on topics including new frauds and scams, retaining brain function, growing fruits and vegetables at home, an overview of hospice, traveling Europe, replacing joints, hearing loss, mental health, generational gaps and line dance exercising.

Register in advance at wwww.iowalakes.edu/ce, class #2264, or on the day of the event. Cost is $10, which covers all sessions as well as a continental breakfast and a roast beef dinner with all the fixings for lunch.

Parking will be available at the new north main entrance of the college.
