IOWA LAKES VOLLEYBALL HOME OPENER, TOURNAMENT AND ALUMNI GAME TAKE PLACE SEPTEMBER 3, 4 & 5

After a very successful season in which the Iowa Lakes volleyball team earned a trip to the NJCAA Division II National Championship, the Lakers are being rewarded with a #8 ranking in the 2009 pre-season poll.

The Laker Volleyball team finished the regular season with the 34 wins and 24 losses overall in the 2008 season. They also finished undefeated in divisional play and posted a 12-1-0 record in conference play.

So far this season, the Lakers have wins against Marshalltown Community College and Central Community College-Columbus.  The only loss thus far is to Kirkwood Community College, another nationally ranked team.

After opening up the season on the road, the Lakers look to have a home court advantage for the next few matches.

The home opener for the Lakers is Thursday, September 3, against Iowa Western Community College.  The match will begin at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium on the Estherville campus.

The following day at 4 p.m. (Friday, September 4) is the start of the Iowa Lakes Invitational Tournament.

The Friday match-ups are as follows:
4:00 p.m.         Iowa Central vs. Iowa Western, and Iowa Lakes vs. Central
6:00 p.m.         Iowa Western vs. NDSCS, and Central vs. McHenry
8:00 p.m.         Iowa Central vs. NDSCS, and Iowa Lakes vs. McHenry

Play will continue into Saturday, September 5, and immediately following the tournament there will be an Iowa Lakes alumni volleyball game (at roughly 3 p.m.).
