IOWA LAKES MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY RANKED 18TH AFTER
FIRST WEEK
The Iowa Lakes Community College Men’s and Women’s
Cross Country Teams participated in their first meet
of the season on Saturday, August 29th in Council
Bluffs.
The meet was the annual time trial meet, in which
the Lakers compete against other community colleges
and club teams from across the state.
The men earned a 6th place finish and a spot on the
week one national rankings.
Bart Zimmer led the Lakers with an overall finish of
29th place. Brandon Minear was next at 48th place
and Jason Vogel took 58th place. In the fourth and
fifth spot for the Lakers was Mitchel Sparks, at
62nd, and Brandon Mumm in 65th place.
“The team performed very well at the time trial meet
and it is a great honor to be nationally ranked,”
said head coach Molly Struve. “We still have to
improve, but this is a great confidence builder and
motivator for the team. It proves that we can
compete with other teams across the state and the
nation.”
The Lakers next competition is the Iowa
Intercollegiate Meet, on Saturday, September 19th in
Ames, Iowa.
