IOWA LAKES OFFERS PROMETRIC TESTING CENTER
SERVICES
Iowa Lakes Community College is now providing
Information Technology students – and the public
– access to a new Thomson Prometric testing
center to assist them in achieving
certifications prior to graduation.
The testing center, located on the Emmetsburg
campus of Iowa Lakes, was officially brought
online earlier this year. The value of this
testing center is that the certifications
attained – along with the classroom, hands-on
experience – qualifies students for higher
paying jobs.
“Our partnership with Prometric provides our
students with a convenient way to measure their
progress and success in class,” said Greg
Reimer, Associate Professor of Information
Technology/Microsoft Networking. “There is
great value in students receiving these
certifications while they’re in college because
they are more marketable and will receive higher
salaries upon graduation.”
The employment outlook for certified network
professionals remains strong. Starting salaries
range from $35,000 to $55,000 annually depending
on qualifications, certifications and
geographical area.
Thomson Prometric is a global leader in
technology testing and assessment for
information technology certification, academic
admissions and professional licensure and
certifications.
Individuals who are working in the information
technology field may also use the testing center
to assess their skills in specific,
software-related subject areas. To schedule a
testing and to identify costs, those interested
are asked to call 1-800-242-5108 ext. 5284.
