IOWA LAKES WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM IS THIRD IN THE NATION
IN GPA
The Iowa Lakes Community College Women’s Golf Team is
getting National recognition in the NJCAA polls.
After finishing 12th in the nation at the National Golf
Tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla., this past spring, the
Laker Women tied for third in the nation with a team GPA
of 3.52. (The minimum grade point requirement for
consideration was a team GPA of 3.00.)
"This acknowledgement of our Women's Golf Program is a
testament to their tremendous work ethic and exceptional
values taught to them by their parents throughout their
youth," said Head Coach Dan Soper. “To win a regional
championship on the golf course and then have a top
academic team in the nation certainly isn't a mistake
and those are well deserved honors for and outstanding
group of young ladies."
"They are the example of what a student-athlete is and
the type a kids we try to bring into our golf program
every year. I am very blessed to have had the
opportunity to be associated with this team and their
parents."
Team members include: Ricca Soper, daughter of Dan Soper
and Marilyn Soper, from Estherville; April Wolf,
daughter of Ed and Julie Wolf, from Algona; Abby
Hohensee, daughter of Dean and Carole Hohensee; from
Pocahontas; Katie Heddinger, daughter of John & Jeri
Heddinger, from Emmetsburg; and, Lauren Hartman,
daughter of Steve and Lisa Hartman, from Northwood.
