2001 2001-2002 FOREST RIDGE
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS NAMED Two
individuals have been selected to receive Forest Ridge scholarships to go
toward their education at Iowa Lakes Community College. Amanda
Frerichs, Estherville, is a full-time traditional student at the Emmetsburg
Campus. She is enrolled in the
Early Childhood Education Program and will graduate in May 2002.
After graduation from Iowa Lakes Community College, she plans on
attending Iowa State University to attain an Early Childhood (birth-8 years)
Teaching Degree. “I
am very appreciative to Forest Ridge and Iowa Lakes Community College for
this scholarship. It not only eases my financial burden, but also since my
education is partially funded by the Iowa Department of the Blind, I won’t
need all of their funding, so another student may be helped by the
Department,” said Frerichs. Elyssa
Omundson of Loveland, Colo., is another recipient of a Forest Ridge
Scholarship. “This
award means I can concentrate on the quality of my work and not worry so
much about my financial obligations. It
is a reward for my hard work and I am very thankful to Forest Ridge,”
stated recipient Elyssa Omundson. Omundson
has resided in the Emmetsburg area for the last two years.
She is a full-time student enrolled in the Nursing Program at the
Emmetsburg Campus. After
graduation in summer of 2002, Omundson plans to attend the Associate Degree
of Nursing Program at Iowa Lakes Community College.
