A student in the Landscape and Turfgrass Technology program at Iowa Lakes Community College has received a scholarship from the Iowa Turfgrass Institute.
Dylan Konechne, Kimball S.D., was in Des Moines January 30 at the 79th Iowa Turfgrass convention to receive the $500 scholarship given by the Iowa Turfgrass Institute.
“I’m very thankful to have received this scholarship,” said Konechne. “It will be very helpful with paying for college expenses. The Turfgrass Conference has opened my mind to more careers involved in the industry and also helped me gain much more knowledge in this field.”
The Landscape and Turfgrass Technology program is an Associate in Applied Science degree program covering five semesters. The last 10 weeks of each spring semester, students are at an on-the-job training site at a business of their choice where they gain valuable hands-on experience. In addition, students participate in a fall internship at the beginning of their sophomore year.
