Good Day! Hope your school year is off
to a wonderful start!
It
is my pleasure to invite you and your jazz band or even
just a few select students to participate in the Iowa
Lakes Community College Annual Jazz Festival Clinic.
This year’s festival clinic will be held on
Wednesday, November 18th,
2009.
This festival has been recognized as one of quality
education, fabulous music, and awesome guest artists.
We
are proud and pleased to announce that our Jazz Combo
includes
Michael Gurciullo,
trumpet;
Tony Gulizia, vocals/keyboards;
Andy Hall, bass and
Greg Forney, percussion.
The morning will begin with a performance
by Jazz Guest Artists at 9:00 a.m. in the Iowa Lakes
Community College gym on the Estherville Campus.
Immediately following the performance we will host four
concurrent sessions. One session will be a beginning
jazz improvisation class for all aged students (bring
your middle school band members). The other sessions
will be instrumental clinics for guitar, percussionists
and bass guitarists. In the afternoon, we will have
clinic times available for high school jazz bands. (You
may use this clinic time for any educational goals you
might have…rhythm section only, full ensemble
fundamentals, stylistic interpretation, contest
preparation, etc.)
The day will conclude with a final
evening concert featuring guest artists Tony Gulizia,
keyboard and vocals; and Andy Hall, bass; and the Iowa
Lakes Community College Jazz Band and the Vocal Jazz
Ensemble. The concert will be performed in the
Lauridsen Theatre at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in
Okoboji. It is at 7:30 p.m. and is free to clinic
participants and directors. (Admission is $10 for
adults and $5 for students.)
