The Iowa Lakes Community College Women’s soccer team heads into the playoffs Tuesday at home.
The women will take on Indian Hills at 2 p.m. at The Lakehouse. The Lakers have won both previous match-ups against Indian Hills – 9-0 and 6-0.
Over the weekend, the Laker Women beat Scott Community College 8-0. During that matchup, Brooke Saxton set a new record for the Lakers. The freshman forward scored five goals with one assist.
That gives the team an overall record of 13-5 and a conference record of 4 wins and 4 losses. A win will send the team to Des Moines for the Region Semi-Final game at the James Cownie Soccer Complex.
“We think we have a really good chance of advancing to the championship,” said Head Soccer Coach Ammon Bennett. “Our goal all year has been to reach that game and win it.”
The Laker Men wrapped up their regular season with a 3-1 win over Scott Community College Saturday. That gives them a 7-12 overall record and a conference record of 4-8.
Their playoff match will be Wednesday in Fort Dodge against the Iowa Central team. The Lakers lost both times they played Iowa Central earlier this season. The team is hopeful they can turn their luck around for a win on Wednesday.

Brooke Saxton is now in the record books for Iowa Lakes as she scored five goals and one assist against Scott Community College Saturday.
