The Iowa Lakes Community College men’s and women’s cross country teams are preparing this week for the regional tournament scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 in Fort Dodge.
Head Coach David Peterson has the team where he wants them to be.
“We are continuing to improve each week and are expecting some good times from our runners,” he said.
The women will not be competing as a team, but have a few runners who could finish towards the top.
“Leah Courtney is capable of a top 5 finish if she continues to run like she has been and Ashley Weston has the ability to run in the top 25 if she has a good meet,” Peterson said.
On the men’s side, the Lakers are looking for Andrew Krueger to place in the top 25 and Tian Siggins to run in the top 40.
“If our top five men all run well, we could be looking at placing fourth as a team,” added Peterson. “That would be a huge accomplishment from where we started at time trials in August.”
The Region 11 cross country championship meet is on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge. The men’s 5K will begin at 11 a.m. with the women’s 5K beginning at noon.
